Bellaniní al nacer era tan hermosa como el día. Sin embargo, esto es la cosa más horrible que le puede pasar a una bruja. Su profesora la castiga, y las otras brujas no dejan que sus hijas jueguen con ella, pero Bellaniní sabrá superar las dificultades y conseguirá ser feliz.

Autor vychází z literární teorie a studuje ženské postavy coby čtenářky v realistickém a naturalistickém románu z pohledu různých literárních škol. Konkrétně se zaměřil na díla tří španělských autorů: Leopoldo Alas Clarin, Benito Pérez Galdós a Emilia Pardo Bazán. Jejich texty totiž poskytují dostatečný vzorek k dekódování různých interakcí mezi knihou a ženou coby čtenářkou.
